Bachelor's Degree
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides six specialized tracks for students pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. All majors must fulfill the general education requirements for their chosen degree, with physics recommended as a laboratory science option. Students not yet ready for calculus as their initial math course may use elective credits for college algebra, trigonometry, or precalculus. The B.A. program mandates either a minor or completion of professional-education courses for teaching certification. While the B.S. degree doesn't require a minor, those choosing the Secondary Mathematics Concentration must complete the professional-education coursework for teaching licensure.
