The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences includes seven academic departments: Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Geological Sciences, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Physics and Astronomy, and Statistics. Undergraduate programs are available in actuarial science, applied physics, biochemistry, chemistry, chemistry education, computer science, earth and space science education, geology, mathematics, mathematics education, physical science teaching, physics, physics-astronomy, physics teaching, and statistics.
This curriculum fulfills the educational prerequisites for obtaining professional licensure or certification in Utah. Students aiming for careers requiring licensure in other states should consult with the relevant BYU advising office and contact the licensing board in their intended state of practice to understand specific certification requirements.
