Climate shifts. Diminishing natural resources. Declining biodiversity. Environmental contamination. Global health crises. Hazardous substance exposure. These represent significant challenges facing our planet, requiring diverse expertise to address them effectively.
Brandeis' environmental studies curriculum offers comprehensive training and practical experience to grasp these complex issues. With its interdisciplinary approach, the program immerses students in both natural and social sciences - covering ecology, physical sciences, economics, historical perspectives, and policy analysis.
We strongly advocate for hands-on, community-based education. Numerous chances exist to participate at various community levels, engage in tangible fieldwork (frequently involving actual hands-on work), and create meaningful impacts in communities.
Fundamentally, environmental challenges intersect with societal concerns, which is why our program emphasizes environmental equity. This focus aligns perfectly with the university's dedication to social fairness. Graduates leave prepared to analyze and tackle the most urgent and complex issues of our time.
