The biology major equips you with essential knowledge and research capabilities for advanced studies and scientific careers. You'll develop the ability to formulate and investigate insightful questions about cells, living organisms, and ecosystems. Introductory courses provide research methodology training in your first year, which you can then expand through laboratory work and faculty-guided research projects.
This program offers five adaptable pathways to complete your degree. Students can pursue a general biology degree or specialize in concentrations like cell and molecular biology, ecology and evolutionary biology, education, or medical technology. The program also features accelerated options, including a combined 4+1 graduate degree pathway or the conventional two-year master's program.
Upon graduation, you may have gained valuable experiences such as:
Personalized faculty guidance
Chances to publish findings and present at academic conferences
Completion of a culminating senior project
Professional networking and growth opportunities through Tri-Beta honor society and the Biology Undergraduate Student Association
