Founded in 1999, CMDB emerged from the conviction that cross-disciplinary methods were growing ever more essential for educating future biologists. Over time, biological sciences have evolved into an increasingly integrated and complex field. Contemporary researchers must now conduct experiments and synthesize data across various biological scales, from molecular interactions to entire living systems. To support this comprehensive training approach, CMDB operates as a cross-departmental initiative uniting faculty from throughout UCR. Annually, we carefully admit a cohort of students who embrace this philosophy, keeping total enrollment between 30-40 participants. The program dedicates itself to equipping trainees for rewarding research careers in fundamental and practical applications of cellular, molecular, and developmental biology, and we take pride in our graduates' significant achievements after completing their studies.
