The aviation studies program equips students for leadership roles in both general and commercial aviation through two concentrations: aviation management and operations, and flight technology and operations. All flight instruction adheres to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations for certification. The Flight Technology and Operations (FTO) track educates and trains aspiring professional pilots, combining commercial pilot training with coursework in general education, aircraft systems, crew resource management, and administration. This program is tailored for students without prior flight experience, focusing on developing pilots for airline and corporate aviation careers. Flight training begins in the first year, available in either fall or spring semester.
The Aviation Studies bachelor's degree includes two specializations: Aviation Management and Operations, and Flight Technology and Operations.
The Aviation Management & Operations (AMO) concentration emphasizes business elements of aviation, covering subjects such as law, air traffic control rules, infrastructure planning, public relations, accounting, and economics.
The Flight Technology and Operations (FTO) specialization prepares students for careers as professional pilots, integrating commercial pilot certification with studies in general education, aircraft systems, crew coordination, and management principles.
