Visionary and hands-on spiritual leaders play a crucial role in shaping both religious communities and society throughout the 21st century. STH's specialized Master of Divinity program enables students to tailor their studies according to their individual career paths. These seven concentration options can be finished within three years of full-time enrollment and typically meet ordination standards across various denominations.
Every MDiv concentration includes foundational coursework (32 credits) covering Scripture, Theological Studies, Historical Christianity, Social Justice, Faith Practices, and Spiritual Guidance, along with practical ministry internships. Another significant portion (27 credits) focuses on track-specific electives, while students complete their degree with 15 credits of open electives.
The School of Theology Bulletin serves as the definitive guide for all MDiv program policies and degree specifications. Students are required to select their vocational focus by the conclusion of their first academic year, establishing a customized educational pathway.
This MDiv program is built on the belief that insightful, action-oriented faith leaders—deeply rooted in their religious heritage—are vital for driving meaningful change in both ecclesiastical and secular spheres. The curriculum prepares spiritual leaders to analyze dynamic local and international situations, responding with innovative approaches informed by comprehensive theological understanding.
