Boston University's Graphic Design Certificate is a rigorous one-year, full-time program immersing students in graphic design studies. The curriculum combines essential graphic design studio courses, design history, and typography fundamentals while enabling participants to choose electives aligned with their professional aspirations. This distinctive residential program equips students with minimal prior design experience with advanced training and analytical skills to expand career prospects. It also serves as excellent preparation for pursuing an MFA degree.
Certificate candidates enjoy dedicated workspace in expansive shared studios, fostering a collaborative graduate community atmosphere.
Upon completing the year-long program, graduates earn a Graphic Design Certificate. Those interested may then apply for the two-year MFA in Graphic Design program, though certificate credits don't transfer to the graduate degree.
The certificate follows the College of Fine Arts' Graduate Academic Standing policies, requiring participants to maintain a 3.0 GPA with no grades below B to stay in good standing.
