The Mathematics Education programs provide diverse opportunities for students to enhance their mathematical knowledge and teaching methodologies. The curriculum emphasizes educational research, instructional techniques for diverse learners, and the creation of mathematics teaching materials.
All Boston University undergraduates, including freshmen and transfer students, complete coursework in the BU Hub - the university's integrated general education program. These requirements can be fulfilled through major coursework, electives, and extracurricular involvement. Mathematics Education majors typically meet BU Hub standards in Diversity, Civic Engagement, Global Citizenship, Communication, and Quantitative Reasoning through Wheelock College of Education & Human Development classes. Arts & Sciences courses may cover additional requirements, so students should consider Hub criteria when choosing electives. Remaining requirements can be completed through various non-major courses or cocurricular options.
