The Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in Interdisciplinary Studies programs at Boston University's Metropolitan College allow you to design a personalized academic path focused on a central theme, problem, or area of interest. You can create your own curriculum by selecting ten upper-level courses (40 credits) from different departments and programs within Metropolitan College. This interdisciplinary approach guarantees exposure to humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science, helping you build strong writing and analytical abilities. To apply, you'll need to submit a proposal explaining your chosen focus area, secured with faculty sponsorship, which then requires approval from the Associate Dean for Enrollment & Student Affairs.
The BLS in Interdisciplinary Studies can also be pursued through the Online Undergraduate Degree Completion Program (UDCP), designed for students with 52-64 transferable credits who want to finish their bachelor's degree entirely online. This program delivers a comprehensive online curriculum spanning social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.
