A combined Classics & Archaeology major is ideal for students passionate about exploring classical texts and societies alongside the archaeological heritage of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. This program provides comprehensive training in the historical, literary, and material aspects of these ancient civilizations, along with proficiency in either Ancient Greek or Latin. It prepares students to specialize further in Classics or Archaeology while developing expertise in a related discipline.
This major serves as excellent preparation for doctoral studies in either Classics or Archaeology. Additionally, it establishes a strong basis for advanced work in art history, religious studies, theology, and other humanities fields. For those not pursuing academia, the BA degree opens doors to rewarding careers in museums, cultural resource management firms, or public archaeology roles with organizations like the National Park Service.
