Archaeology examines ancient civilizations by analyzing the physical artifacts they left behind. This field provides unique insights into diverse cultures worldwide, connecting us directly with our ancestors' lives. Modern archaeology also explores how cultural heritage influences today's societies. By studying surviving relics, archaeologists uncover stories of people from various historical periods and regions. Stanford's Archaeology Program offers students a multidisciplinary perspective on ancient artifacts, combining methods from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
