This two-year program consists of ten courses totaling 30 credits. Participants must complete at least one course in three out of the four Political Science disciplines: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory. Each semester, students enroll in three courses.
The program permits enrollment in two courses from other departments. Graduation requirements include passing a comprehensive exam covering two subfields. Alternatively, thesis candidates complete eight courses and are exempt from the comprehensive exam. Students may also opt for Advanced Directive Study (ADS), working with a faculty advisor to develop a final paper project based on previous seminar work, replacing both thesis and exam requirements.
