The two-year Master of Arts in English program delivers an intellectually rigorous curriculum centered on comprehensive literary exploration. Our program features diverse course offerings spanning genres and eras, from ancient medieval verse to modern American fiction, alongside specialized seminars covering theoretical frameworks like performance theory and postcolonial analysis. Students can pursue interdisciplinary work through American Studies. With over 50 dedicated faculty members, we continually develop innovative courses reflecting cutting-edge research in fields including visual studies, creative nonfiction, and digital literary scholarship.
Students must have a bachelor's degree and undergraduate course work in calculus, physics, biochemistry, biology and chemistry, including organic chemistry. Applicants whose native language is not English must achieve a TOEFL score of 600 or better (paper-based test), or 250 or better in (computer-based test).
