Those starting at the upper-division level need to complete 3 additional elective units to meet the 12-unit requirement. An external oral proficiency exam is also required.
The French Language Certificate requires 12-25 units, with at least 9 upper-division units. The lower-division unit count varies based on previous French education in high school or college, as students with prior experience may begin at an advanced level. Alongside the 9 upper-division units, students must successfully complete an external oral proficiency assessment.
