The Department of World Languages and Cultures provides a Master of Arts program in Languages and Literature, featuring concentrations in Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies, French, or Spanish. Each specialization has distinct degree requirements. The Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies track enables students to examine and interpret texts from diverse global cultures. This approach, grounded in comparative analysis, fosters interdisciplinary and cross-cultural understanding by revealing new perspectives on world traditions. Students benefit from faculty expertise spanning European, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern cultural studies. Our accomplished professors bring diverse teaching and research focuses, particularly in French and Francophone literature, culture, and language studies. Graduate courses are conducted as interactive seminars, creating a collaborative learning environment where students develop strong academic connections with faculty. Teaching Assistants receive training in contemporary second-language teaching methods. The Spanish Literature concentration equips students to analyze texts and cultural artifacts through multiple theoretical frameworks while developing research skills. This program offers comprehensive exposure to both traditional and non-traditional literary works from Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean through an interdisciplinary lens.
