The German Studies program offers an intimate, student-centered approach with courses covering German language, culture, business, and history spanning from medieval times to today. Students are strongly encouraged to spend time abroad in German-speaking nations, typically during their junior year semester or summer term.
Renowned for prioritizing student success, German Studies faculty deliver individualized support and cultivate engaging classroom environments. The program provides multiple academic pathways including majors, minors, interdisciplinary options, and honors programs, alongside cultural enrichment opportunities. These include Stammtisch, a weekly German conversation gathering, and the student-led German Club organizing year-round activities.
The program boasts an exceptional track record with Fulbright scholarships to Germany, notably achieving a record-breaking 13 awards in 2007 - believed to be the highest number ever granted to one university for a single country.
