When working toward a master's or PhD, literature graduate students should aim to combine broad understanding with focused expertise. Our professors bring diverse specializations, covering both conventional historical eras and interdisciplinary areas such as queer and feminist studies, cinema analysis, disability research, and author biographies. This intensive program incorporates instruction in research techniques and critical theory, concluding with either a thesis or research project. The English literature master's degree equips graduates for PhD studies as well as professional paths in law, marketing, communications, and various non-academic fields.
