Governments, corporations, and everyday activities now function on an increasingly global scale, elevating the significance of Asian nations such as Japan, China, and South Korea to the United States. Japan stands out as both a current and future economic powerhouse, serving as a key ally to the U.S. in global affairs, commerce, cultural exchange, and international trade. Individuals capable of strengthening these international connections will emerge as the leaders of tomorrow. Our Japanese studies program equips students with both linguistic skills and cultural understanding of this vibrant nation. Ball State stands among just two Indiana universities providing a bachelor's degree in Japanese. This degree program encompasses foundational, intermediate, and advanced Japanese language courses, along with studies in Japanese cultural traditions and literary classics.
