Our undergraduate French studies provide three distinct specialization options within the French major, along with a minor option and the flexibility to take individual French courses. Beyond the classroom, students can enhance their language skills through weekly conversation groups, film screenings, cultural excursions to New York, and numerous study abroad possibilities. Those interested in P-12 French teacher certification need to apply and gain admission to the Teacher Education Program. The professional course sequence and all program details can be found on the Teacher Education Program website, with the Program Handbook serving as an essential resource. French majors must maintain a B average in their French coursework to qualify for and complete the Teacher Education Program. Before the Student Teaching semester, candidates must also pass the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI). Prospective teachers should meet with the French Teacher Education Coordinator for exam preparation guidance.
