Ball State boasts one of the country's top music education programs. Our faculty members are nationally recognized experts with years of K-12 teaching experience. When you enroll in our music education program, you'll follow an accredited curriculum that qualifies you for an Indiana K-12 teaching license in either instrumental/general music or vocal/general music. Our modern approach combines musical training with hands-on classroom experience starting your very first semester. These practical learning opportunities continue throughout all four years, fostering steady development, meaningful evaluation, and a smooth transition into your teaching career. This comprehensive preparation gives you superior readiness for today's K-12 music classrooms. Ball State alumni secure teaching positions in Indiana schools at nearly double the rate of graduates from other institutions and are regularly hired nationwide.
Students should apply as a freshman undergraduate student if:
Students have completed or will complete high school or secondary school before the semester you apply to start
Students have not attended a university, college, or other postsecondary institution
Students wish to earn a bachelor’s degree
Required Scores to demonstrate English Proficiency: TOEFL iBT 79; IELTS 6.5 Band; Pearson's PTE 53
Dates and Deadlines - International Admissions must receive all your application materials by these dates for consideration for a specific term
Fall Term - application materials due by June 15th
Spring Term - application materials due by November 15th
Priority application date for fall enrollment: March 1; priority application date for spring enrollment: December 1.
