The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication's MMC program employs a teaching hospital approach to fully engage students in journalism and strategic communication practices, equipping them for success in the fast-changing media landscape.
This 36-credit curriculum starts with an intensive multimedia bootcamp, training students in cross-platform storytelling using text, photography, video, and audio. During the second term, learners can specialize through advanced coursework in areas like narrative journalism, podcast creation, broadcast production, documentary filmmaking, health journalism, Spanish-language media, border reporting, strategic communication, and digital media entrepreneurship.
The degree concludes with hands-on professional training at one of Cronkite's communication labs or news bureaus in Los Angeles, Phoenix, or Washington, D.C. Under the mentorship of acclaimed professionals, these capstone experiences provide practical training in authentic newsroom or agency settings.
