The PhD in Community Resources and Development is an intensive research-focused doctoral program rooted in theoretical foundations, equipping graduates for scholarly careers across diverse fields. This program centers on fostering sustainable, thriving communities as its core philosophy, connecting specialized domains including community studies, nonprofit leadership, parks and recreation management, and tourism development.
Through its integrated theoretical frameworks and research methodologies, the program synthesizes knowledge across these disciplines, enabling students to develop deeper insights into community systems and their evolving dynamics.
With its inherently interdisciplinary approach, the program draws on expertise from core faculty within the School of Community Resources and Development while also leveraging existing partnerships with researchers from various ASU academic units who share aligned scholarly interests. The curriculum further strengthens these interdisciplinary connections through ongoing collaborations with faculty across multiple ASU departments, schools, and research centers.
