This cutting-edge program expands upon our standing as one of Britain's premier art history institutions.
You'll explore art's historical development, gaining essential skills for curatorial work in museums, galleries, cultural venues, or heritage sites, along with non-art institutions. Field trips may allow you to experience artworks in their original institutional contexts.
You'll have access to collaborate with the University's Art Collection.
First-year students can select from language courses specifically designed for art history students to enhance their study abroad experience.
The curriculum combines art history and curatorial studies, with instruction occurring both in traditional classrooms and at museum/gallery locations. You'll learn from our faculty - including internationally renowned curators - and professionals from partner organizations such as:
York Museums Trust The Hepworth Wakefield YCHP (Yorkshire Country House Partnership) Castle Howard
