The Master of Arts in Creative Writing: Writing the City stands out as the sole program of its kind dedicated exclusively to London's urban landscape. This unique course enables students to examine the metropolis through diverse lenses and literary forms while providing both theoretical foundations and hands-on experience to engage with the capital's literary community. Under the guidance of published authors and scholars, participants gain valuable connections with fellow writers, literary agents, television producers, and spoken word artists. A distinctive feature includes contributing to the Wells Street Journal, our student-run publication. Based at 309 Regent Street - the University's central location - students immerse themselves in London's dynamic academic, social, and cultural offerings, including the thriving West End theater district. The program offers both January and September intakes. To earn the MA degree, students complete 180 credits through three core modules (40 credits each) and a substantial 60-credit Writing Project. The workshop-oriented curriculum emphasizes collaborative learning through weekly 2-3 hour sessions, complemented by visits to London's cultural institutions and encouragement to utilize the city's archives and artistic venues. Evaluation consists of creative portfolios, reflective journals, critical essays, workshop facilitation, and a final 10-12,000 word writing project, with no written examinations.
