For those passionate about creative writing, seeking to refine their craft, enhance their professional author skills, and connect with the dynamic artistic community at the Seamus Heaney Centre, the PGDip in English (Creative Writing) offers an ideal opportunity. This program covers both prose (fiction and nonfiction) and scriptwriting (for film and theater), encouraging students to experiment with various forms before selecting a focus area.
Students will push boundaries by exploring diverse writing styles, embracing fresh perspectives, reading boldly, and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback on peers' work. They'll cultivate their voice as independent writers and reflective lifelong learners while gaining insights into the publishing industry and the business side of writing.
Instruction comes from accomplished novelists, playwrights, and screenwriters, supplemented by workshops with guest authors, publishing professionals, and literary agents. Participants will also contribute to Queen's University Belfast's distinguished legacy of literary excellence.
