Hospital patients typically undergo diagnostic assessments before receiving treatment. Digital and computer radiography systems employ basic imaging techniques to examine the chest and skeletal structures. Advanced imaging technologies like ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, and nuclear medicine assist in identifying surgical, vascular, or medical issues, along with severe injuries. Radiographers require expertise in radiation physics, anatomical structures, physiological processes, and disease pathology to accurately generate and analyze these diagnostic images.

The BSc(Hons) Diagnostic Radiography program holds accreditation from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), enabling graduates to apply for professional registration. Students train in state-of-the-art facilities, observing and performing diagnostic techniques. Master the operation of sophisticated equipment including the Shaderware VR x-ray training system. Explore the scientific principles behind accurate diagnoses. Cultivate essential teamwork and communication abilities. With its hands-on approach, the course integrates clinical placements, simulation exercises, and research-based learning. Students interact with patients, practicing radiographers, and other medical professionals during placements, classroom sessions, and digital platforms.
