Orthoptists are experts in assessing, managing, and correcting eye movement abnormalities and vision problems. They collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare providers to deliver top-quality care to patients across all age groups.

Practical clinical training
Recognizing the value of hands-on learning, our curriculum incorporates 32 weeks of clinical placements. You'll gain experience in orthoptic departments throughout the UK and Ireland, learning from specialists while working directly with patients experiencing various eye conditions. Much of your work will involve assisting children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities. In your final year, you'll complete a two-week elective placement at an orthoptic clinic of your preference.
Orthoptics offers outstanding career prospects with numerous specialization and advancement opportunities. Most alumni secure NHS positions shortly after completing their studies. Potential workplaces include hospital orthoptic clinics, health centers, or special needs schools.
