The Master of Arts in English Literature provides a diverse and adaptable graduate program within a globally renowned English department. Our program features an array of specialized topics, from Gothic studies and Postcolonial Theory to Petrofiction and Anthropocene literature, enabling students to engage with pioneering scholars at the forefront of literary research.
This MA program cultivates expertise in analyzing texts and cultural expressions across different historical periods, societies, and literary forms. It features a customizable curriculum where students select from various modules covering English-language literatures, critical theory, and global literary traditions.
Course offerings span Feminist Literary Theory, Queer Studies, Ecopoetics, Gothic literature, World Literatures, and Drama. Students complete four modules—two per term—followed by a self-directed dissertation in Term Three, working closely with a faculty advisor on a chosen research topic.
