If you have a passion for Victorian literature or are considering future PhD studies, the Victorian Literature MA program offers in-depth training in 19th-century literary and cultural studies. Taught in one of the most well-preserved Victorian cities, the University of Liverpool's Victorian studies program has a rich tradition of blending literary analysis with cutting-edge critical approaches and cross-disciplinary research. This MA pathway explores diverse subjects including Victorian supernatural themes, apocalyptic visions, medieval revivals (evident in Liverpool's Victorian architecture), crime narratives, and the evolving interpretations of Victorian literature both then and now.
With exceptional Victorian-era collections and nearby cultural institutions (such as the Walker and Lady Lever art galleries, Sudley House, and Gladstone's Library), this program delivers a comprehensive study of Victorian literature that connects written works with the tangible heritage and lived experiences of the era.
Note: Applicants should select 'MA English Literature' from the program list and indicate their preferred pathway in their personal statement.
