The MA in Comparative Literatures and Cultures offers a unique chance to explore the intersections between literary traditions and cultural exchanges across Europe and globally. This program is open to graduates from all arts and humanities fields.
You'll explore the principles and applications of comparative literary and cultural studies, examining how national cultural concepts transcend boundaries and media formats while engaging with transnational and intermedial ideas. The curriculum provides comprehensive training in literary theory, cultural analysis, and intermedial studies, along with critical reading and research methodologies. You'll apply these frameworks by investigating interdisciplinary themes spanning different periods and national contexts, guided by specialists from the School of Modern Languages.
Although foreign language proficiency isn't mandatory for admission, the program offers language learning opportunities at various levels, from introductory to advanced, allowing engagement with foreign language materials throughout your studies. The degree concludes with a dissertation project - an original, in-depth research endeavor.
