Sussex offers prime access to exceptional resources and archival collections. The Keep, a top-tier archival facility nearby, houses the German-Jewish archives, personal papers of Rudyard Kipling and Leonard Woolf, and the Mass Observation Archive - an unmatched resource for modern British history studies. London's British Library and National Archives are also conveniently accessible. Students can pursue either a PhD or MPhil degree. These programs vary in duration and research scope. A PhD requires significant original contributions to your field's knowledge base, while an MPhil involves independent research with less extensive requirements, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. Students may have the option to upgrade from MPhil to PhD during their studies.
