Nestled within the Brighton and Lewes Downs UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, bordered by the South Downs National Park, and just a short distance from Brighton and the coastline, this setting provides an ideal environment for biological research. Whether exploring animal behavior or molecular evolution, you'll conduct fieldwork and lab experiments under the mentorship of our experienced faculty. The program offers both PhD and MPhil options, which vary in duration and research scope. A PhD requires significant original contributions to your field's knowledge base, while an MPhil involves independent research with a narrower focus, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. Students may have the opportunity to transition from an MPhil to a PhD during their studies.
