This Master of Science program is a full-time, one-year curriculum, featuring 9 months of instruction and 3 months dedicated to a research project, with evaluation through continuous assessment. The program delivers comprehensive theoretical and practical education in marine biology. Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences boasts more than 50 years of postgraduate teaching expertise, along with outstanding instructional and research resources for marine biology studies.
The MSc in Marine Biology is part of a collection of 5 specialized marine science master's programs offered by the School, all conducted within a fully equipped postgraduate facility. The program is overseen by a team including Dr Ian McCarthy (Course Director) and Dr Luis Gimenez (Deputy Course Director). The School employs 30 faculty members who teach and conduct research across marine science fields such as Marine Biology, Biogeochemistry, Physical Oceanography, and Geological Oceanography, supported by 24 technical and administrative personnel. Instruction for the MSc in Marine Biology is primarily led by the School's academic staff, supplemented by contributions from the University's School of Biological Sciences, the National Museum of Wales, and visiting lecturers.
