Our clinical psychology program offers specialized training that integrates psychological theory, research, and hands-on NHS experience in a welcoming learning environment. Experience our practical, policy-focused instruction and research grounded in strong theoretical frameworks. Graduates meet both academic and practical standards for Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as Clinical Psychologists.
Training begins with six weeks of foundational instruction introducing NHS operations and psychotherapeutic clinical work. This initial phase covers cognitive behavioral therapy and systemic/family therapy techniques to prepare for your first placement. The program then combines clinical practice (2.5 days weekly) with university-based learning (2 days) and independent study (0.5 day), maintaining this structure throughout the three-year full-time curriculum.
Throughout the program, you'll progressively develop comprehensive clinical abilities, therapeutic expertise, and leadership skills, preparing you to serve diverse client populations. The curriculum emphasizes inclusion, equality, and diversity, fostering anti-discriminatory practices to ensure trainees can effectively support individuals from all backgrounds.
