As a social worker, you'll get to positively impact the lives of society's most disadvantaged and at-risk individuals. Your career path could branch into various specializations including child welfare services, youth in foster care, elderly support services, assisting those with intellectual or physical disabilities, mental health support, homelessness services, addiction recovery programs, or working with any other populations requiring specialized assistance.
The MA in Social Work blends academic coursework with hands-on training. The curriculum covers social work environments, legal and policy structures, foundational theories in social work, psychological and sociological concepts, issues of power dynamics, discrimination, and anti-oppressive approaches. This theoretical foundation is reinforced through two field placements where you'll apply your knowledge in real-world settings.
