You can pursue either a PhD or MPhil in Law. A Law PhD involves three years of full-time study, whereas an MPhil takes one year of full-time study. The Strathclyde Law School accepts part-time candidates for both PhD and MPhil programs. Part-time research degrees offer professionals the chance to explore topics relevant to their field while continuing to work. This flexible approach allows students to earn a PhD or MPhil without interrupting their careers. Private law regulates interactions between individuals. This legal domain profoundly shapes societal structures and reflects a nation's cultural identity. Scottish private law, evolving from both English Common Law and continental Civil Law traditions, serves as a connection between these major legal systems. Incorporating aspects of both, it presents exceptional value for comparative legal studies.
For postgraduate studies, we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent (the test must be taken within two years of programme start date)
