Founded in 2016 by the Department of Social Work & Social Policy, this scholarship enables students to pursue doctoral studies under the guidance of world-renowned scholars from throughout the University of Strathclyde, with most supervisors based in the Department of Social Work & Social Policy and the Law School. Current Criminology research strengths within the Faculty span diverse areas across two academic units: Department of Social Work & Social Policy: juvenile justice and criminal justice social work probation services offenders with vulnerabilities mental health studies intellectual disabilities legal capacity and adult safeguarding human rights issues gender studies in crime and domestic violence risk evaluation and handling of dangerous offenders global prison systems and penal policy sociology of incarceration health services in correctional settings mental health law, intellectual disabilities and adult protection child welfare services vocational opportunities in correctional and community settings public administration and collaborative approaches in justice systems
You'll need a first or 2:1 UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in a relevant discipline from a recognised academic institution. Search our postgraduate research degrees for the specific requirements for your research programme. 
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
