A PhD program focuses entirely on research. Each doctoral project involves creating your own unique research initiative, carried out under the mentorship of at least two faculty supervisors specializing in your field.
You can undertake PhD research in any discipline offered by the University, provided there's appropriate expertise to guide your project. Interdisciplinary research proposals are encouraged. The University offers a structured research environment with close supervision and regular progress assessments. Distance learning options for PhD studies are also available at London Met.
Earning a PhD requires contributing new knowledge to your field. This demands comprehensive understanding of existing literature, strong analytical abilities to evaluate research findings, self-discipline, and significant time commitment.
While the program doesn't include formal coursework, you'll receive research methodology training and can enroll in relevant master's-level classes. Additionally, you may pursue a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education alongside your research work.
