Our department boasts dedicated faculty in French, Italian, Spanish, and Translation studies, providing exceptional guidance for your research pursuits. As part of our Graduate School community, you'll collaborate with fellow scholars across diverse fields. Our cross-disciplinary modern languages research (covering French, Spanish, Italian, and Mandarin) explores themes of representation, interpretation, and cultural transmission through various media including cinema, literature, journalism, opera, print publications, theater, philosophy, and translation. Key research focuses encompass literary and intellectual history, displacement studies, psychological resilience, female authorship, performance studies, and cultural translation. These initiatives frequently involve productive partnerships with external organizations.
Students normally require to have a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in Spanish, French or Italian. 
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (ibt): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
