The PGCE in English program closely follows the Northern Ireland Curriculum, preparing graduates to teach English to students aged 11-18 and beyond. This course is designed to enhance both your teaching skills in English and your overall professional teaching abilities. Ideal for aspiring educators, this PGCE suits those with an English degree or soon-to-be graduates in English. Additional spots are available for candidates wanting to teach through Irish in Irish-medium schools. Successful completion includes an extra certification in Irish Medium Education (IME), offered in partnership with St Mary's University College.

Qualification Requirements

All applicants must possess the following
At least a 2:2 Honours degree (and/or higher degree) or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University where at least half of the content must be in English or English Literature.
At the time of application, GCSE Mathematics grade C 4, and GCSE English Language grade C 4 or equivalent qualification. (Please note Essential Skills Level 2 qualifications are not regarded as equivalent for entry to this professional course as the professional accrediting authority, the GTCNI, does not recognise them as equivalent.)
IELTS 6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
TOEFL iBT 90 with minimum marks as follows- Listening - 17 Reading - 18 Speaking - 20 Writing - 17
