Traditional news organizations are rapidly transitioning to digital platforms. Journalism is being transformed by digital innovations, with hyperlocal reporting and mobile journalism gaining widespread adoption. Our goal is to develop skilled graduates who possess strong communication abilities and can express their ideas through compelling narratives. Students will gain hands-on experience in the University's simulated newsroom, utilizing mobile devices and digital recording equipment for external reporting. They'll have access to professional-grade editing tools for audio and video content.
Curriculum overview
The program includes required and elective courses. MLitt candidates complete either a research thesis or a practical production project.Students will train in the University's news simulation lab while conducting field reporting with mobile technology. master multimedia storytelling through text, images, video, and audio
During the second semester, students conceptualize, develop, and promote their own digital publication.The Entrepreneurial Journalism course, offered in partnership with the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation, covers career diversification, personal branding, and startup creation.Students collaborate with media and creative industry partners on various projects throughout the program.

Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, or professional experience demonstrating ability to study at Masters level.
Experience of student journalism, a media work placement, freelance work or professional journalism is desirable.
English language requirements:
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
TOEFL (IBT): 80 overall, with the following minimum scores in each component: Listening: 17 Reading: 18 Speaking: 20 Writing: 18.
