Why choose this course? As an English student at Strathclyde, you'll experience a perfect blend of tradition and innovation: studying classic works while exploring emerging literary fields. We'll demonstrate how diverse and engaging our subject truly is. Employers value the competencies gained through an English degree: effective written and oral communication, analytical thinking, idea evaluation, and creative problem-solving. Social Policy investigates how societies allocate resources and design services to address both individual and collective needs. Core topics include poverty analysis; disparities based on economics, race, age, and gender; principles of social justice; healthcare systems; educational policies; criminal justice reforms; and housing solutions. The field employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods to better understand resource allocation strategies and progress measurement in societies. This program enables you to explore socioeconomic challenges specific to Scotland while maintaining a global context. It incorporates perspectives from multiple disciplines including history, sociology, anthropology, economics, legal studies, psychology, social anthropology, and political science. Our BA programs in Humanities & Social Sciences begin with a broad foundation. During your first year, you'll study three subjects, including your selected area(s) of focus.
