Examine social justice and welfare topics to grasp the core dilemmas and obstacles societies encounter regarding rights, fairness, and resource allocation. This program teaches the societal and governmental underpinnings of policies influencing lives. You'll analyze how social policy shapes identity, political groups, justice systems, and human rights. The course investigates the history and development of government institutions, their ties to economic systems and nonprofit organizations in the UK and globally. This enhances your awareness of current welfare challenges across local, national, and international contexts.

Your first year establishes foundations for social science studies. You'll investigate societal transformations and how community concerns evolve into policy debates. The curriculum covers principal social, political, and economic forces affecting equality and welfare in contemporary Britain.

During Year 2, you'll concentrate on crucial policy domains including family structures, economic deprivation, social disparities, and policy formation analysis. The program develops your ability to assess information and craft persuasive arguments for diverse audiences. You'll also select from various social science elective modules.
