Our BSc (Hons) in Visual Effects and Virtual Production prepares you with both technical expertise and creative abilities to craft cinematic-quality scenes. You'll build an impressive professional portfolio while gaining hands-on experience throughout the program. Upon graduation, you'll be fully prepared to enter the thriving VFX and virtual production sectors, which present diverse career paths across film, television, animation, gaming, and advertising. Virtual production merges film and gaming technologies, allowing you to construct lifelike digital environments. The curriculum covers emerging convergence technologies, camera tracking systems, and real-time rendering processes. In our specialized Virtual Production Suite, you'll master green screen techniques for creating dynamic action sequences. Our Motion Capture Studio enables students to record human movements and apply this data to digital characters, potentially collaborating with professional dancers to achieve realistic animations.
These represent just a portion of our exceptional industry-grade facilities. Additional resources include a fully equipped TV studio and advanced post-production laboratories. As one of the UK's few Houdini-certified institutions, we provide exclusive access to cutting-edge VFX software, complemented by our extensive industry connections.
In a notable recent collaboration, students worked alongside military historian Andy Robertshaw (consultant for War Horse and 1917), utilizing authentic WWI props to recreate historical battle scenes through CGI and motion capture technology, complete with explosive effects and multiple soldier animations.
