Our BA (Hons) in Illustration and Animation (including foundation year) is a four-year program featuring an integrated foundation year, allowing you to explore various creative pathways before specializing in illustration and animation during the following three years.
This program serves as an ideal alternative if you lack the required qualifications for direct entry into our standard three-year illustration and animation degree.
During the foundation year, you'll engage in diverse projects to build essential skills, techniques, and work habits for undergraduate-level illustration and animation studies. You'll collaborate with students from other foundation programs, gaining exposure to various disciplines from drawing and painting to textiles, performance, and beyond.
Tutors will foster an open-minded approach to your projects, helping you develop a clear creative direction. Later in the year, you'll apply these learnings through more extensive projects.
The curriculum includes lectures and seminars examining artistic practice through historical, contemporary, conceptual, and cultural perspectives.
Throughout the course, you'll have multiple chances to showcase your work. Regular presentations to peers and instructors will provide valuable feedback on your creative process. Your projects will also be featured in the School's public exhibition at the conclusion of your foundation year.
