The PhD program, available in Psychology or Neuroscience, is a research-focused degree typically completed in 3 years (or 6 years part-time). Students work under the guidance of one or more faculty members from the School, culminating in a thesis of up to 80,000 words and a viva voce examination. The School of Psychology and Neuroscience provides both PhD and MSc (by research) programs. Research areas within psychology and neuroscience generally align with four main themes: cellular and developmental neuroscience, origins of mind, perception/cognition/action, and social/group processes.

Qualification Requirements

up-to-date CV or resume
research proposal, including working title, of approximately 500 words, agreed with the potential supervisor
academic transcripts for undergraduate degree and any postgraduate degree completed or in progress (interim transcripts are permitted at this stage where final results are not yet known)
two academic references
sample of written academic work in English of no more than 3000 words
applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency, the School of Psychology and Neuroscience requires an IELTs score of at least 7.0 overall with at least 7.0 in Writing.
