The Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (ANC) stands as a globally renowned center focused on studying adaptive mechanisms in both artificial and biological systems through theoretical and empirical approaches. As one of the UK's most distinguished and extensive academic groups in these domains, we excel in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.
We cultivate exceptional collaborative research that bridges multiple scientific disciplines.
Our research focuses on three primary domains:
machine intelligence
neural computation studies
biological computation
Within machine intelligence, we create probabilistic techniques to identify patterns and organization in data, implementing these solutions across scientific and technological challenges. These methods find applications in fields ranging from astronomical research to healthcare and information technology.
In neural computation and neuroinformatics, we investigate the brain's information processing capabilities while analyzing and interpreting experimental neuroscience data.
