The MSt (Res) is a research-focused Master's program where students undertake a full-time research project culminating in a thesis of up to 30,000 words. This program serves as either a standalone qualification or ideal preparation for doctoral studies, offering valuable research experience within a condensed timeframe.
In today's interconnected world, proficiency in foreign languages and cultural understanding has become essential. University-level language studies enable students to explore diverse cultures, histories, and perspectives through their native tongues. Such studies also foster a deeper, more nuanced understanding of one's own linguistic and cultural background. Within the School of Modern Languages, students learn from specialists across seven language disciplines and Comparative Literature, with faculty research spanning medieval to contemporary studies on diverse subjects.

Admission to research study within the Faculties of Arts and Divinity is normally on the basis of a good Masters degree which must be related to your area of research.
