Become a certified French, German, or Spanish teacher through this Modern Languages PGCE Secondary program. Your training will alternate between the University of Southampton and classroom placements, helping you build both theoretical understanding and hands-on teaching skills for students aged 11-16 (Key Stages 3-4). This qualification enables you to teach in state-maintained and special schools across England and Wales. Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) program prepares you to instruct secondary students following the UK's National Curriculum for Languages. You'll master effective methods for teaching foreign language comprehension, conversation, reading, and writing while fostering cultural appreciation.

Qualification Requirements
Youll need:
a 2:2 degree (UK honours degree or equivalent) with at least 50% foreign language content
at least 2 foreign languages, including French
GCSEs (minimum grade 4/C) in English language and maths
If you don't have the required GCSEs we'll ask you at the offer stage to take equivalency tests. You'll need to cover the cost of the tests yourself.
Secondary school classroom experience may strengthen your application.
We do not accept IELTS in lieu of the English Language GCSE requirement.

TOEFL iBT- 100
